Who am I?
Hey I'm Roelof,
I’ve been painting since I was very young. I also have a background in science and through studying how nature is built (geology, biology, structure, layers), I discovered something that completely changed my painting results.
In the beginning, I painted mostly on intuition. Sometimes the results were amazing… but other times they weren’t consistent. I struggled with patience and didn’t always know why something worked or didn’t work.
So I began combining intuition with what I knew about nature and surprisingly, it worked.
That’s how I developed a more consistent, structured approach to painting.
The result:
better paintings, more confidence, and a lot more joy in the process.
Inspiration
I love being out in nature and traveling to different countries (hence the name).
I take photos, choose my favorites, and paint them onto canvas, creating a beautiful souvenir that’s completely my own.
My Approach
I teach painting in a way that is both creative and structured.
Nature is built in layers and painting can be too.
That is the foundation of my method, which I call terra-forming.
It helps you:
-
Build a painting step-by-step, layer by layer
-
Keep your work realistic and balanced throughout
-
Stop whenever you want, and still have something that already looks good
-
Continue later without feeling like you “ruined it”
Why I Teach
Because so many people give up too soon.
Painting is a skill, not a talent you either have or don’t have.
Your “feeling” for it grows with practice, and you can learn faster when you understand the right principles.
If you want to create realistic, detailed paintings and enjoy the process while doing it, I’d love to help.
